Ingredients
2 cups Almatahin all-purpose flour
½ cup melted butter
½ fresh milk
¾ teaspoon grounded cardamom
Icing sugar for coating
For filling
1/3 cup crushed walnuts
¼ cup icing sugar
1 tablespoon rose water
Pinch of cinnamon powder
Instructions
- Mix all of the filling ingredients, set aside
- Boil the milk and let to set
- In a wide bowl, combine the flour and the grounded cardamom. Make cavity in the center and then pour in the melted butter and knead
- Add the milk while kneading until form a firm dough
- Form the dough into small balls, concave the center and add 1 teaspoon of the filling and form into a ball again
- On a saucepan heat deep oil and fry the ball, stir until golden brown
- Remove the balls and drain, set to cool
- Roll the balls into the icing sugar until fully coated, serve warm or cold
